Esther Duflo - Poverty Alleviation: Step by step

Esther Duflo is the Professor of Poverty Alleviation and Development Economics at MIT since 1999. She is also a founder and director of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL). Her research focuses on microeconomic issues in developing countries, including household behavior, education, access to finance, health and policy evaluation. She has been a driving force in advancing field experiments as an important methodology to discover causal relationships in economics. In addition, Poor Economics - a book she is a co-author of - had been elected in 2011 as the Best Business Book by the Financial Times. Esther received numerous academic honours and prizes including the John Bates Clark Medal which is considered as the precursor of the Nobel prize.
